The interior is high gloss black glaze, making it waterproof. This is made of very durable stoneware that is dishwasher, microwave and food safe…so it you feel the desire to be creative with this, you can be. The exterior is a matte finish with a velvety textured hand feel that will get even more velvety with use and handling. I have filled the carved design with very subtle coloring to give it more depth and to create a lime light coloring to evoke its inner cicada. This is a one-of-a-kind and this is the actual vase that you will receive.
